1857 and all that......

Why did I buy the frightfully bedraggled little post and beam house and embark on a restoration?

It had the most superb light, and there were a wonderful number of ancient trees embracing the small, story and a half cape cod structure.

Only later did I learn that the house was the home of Francis daSilva, one of Nova Scotia's most fascinating folk painters.
